Requirements

The FAA outlines specific criteria required to obtain a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate in CFR §61.195

Whether you want to become a professional pilot or fly for fun, it all starts here! Private pilots are able to fly single-engine aircraft in good weather conditions. The FAA’s outlined criteria to obtain your Private certificate are:

  • Age: 18 Years

  • Commercial Pilot or ATP Certificate

  • Complete FAA Flight Instructor Airplane Written Exam

  • Complete FAA Fundamentals of Instruction Written Exam

  • 40 Hours of Ground Instruction

  • 15 Hours of Flight Training, including Spin Endorsement

  • FAA Practical Test (Checkride)
